The Danish Amateur Orchestra Association (DAOS)

 


The rationale of the organisation is:

  • To promote the interest in active music playing.
  • To take care of the interests of the member orchestras.
  • To promote the cooperation between the amateur ensembles and the amateur music organizations.
  • To promote the cooperation between amateur musicians, professional musicians and music tutors.
  • To promote the interest in and understanding of the social significance of music.

Target groups:

Primary t.g.: Amateur orchestras in Denmark.

Secondary t.g.: Individual members (Danish as well as foreign) playing orchestra instruments.

Tertiary t.g.: Potential members of orchestras within DAOS.


Activities and size of the organisation:

DAOS organizes app. 75 orchestras with a total of app. 2800 amateur musicians.

A number of Danish and foreign amateur musicians - between 100 and 120 - are individual members of DAOS.

DAOS organizes a summer orchestra camp every summer (1 week, app. 250 participants and 20 teachers) and 1 - 3 additional courses throughout the year (eg. String orchestra or master classes for individual instruments).
